Course Description

As part of the oral anatomy, the jaw, tongue and lips are parts of an interconnected whole and are dependent on each other for correct movement and resting postures of the mouth. But what if there are issues with jaw position? How does this impact lip and tongue placement and function? TalkTools Instructor, Heather Vukelich, will be looking at the anatomy of the jaw, particularly atypical jaw placement and stability and will provide positive, dynamic and readily applicable techniques to develop proper jaw positioning and function for improved speech and feeding skills.

  2. Participants will be able to understand jaw dissociation and grading.
  3. Participants will be able to assess atypical jaw positions and movements.
  4. Participants will be able to apply 2 techniques to improve jaw grading and dissociation.
  5. Participants will be able to develop a jaw activity plan.
