Course Description

Renee and Colette are excited to bring to you a look into their new 2-day course on Feeding AND swallowing. Learning the intricacies of oral feeding issues and the connection to oropharyngeal and/or esophageal dysphagia and swallowing function requires knowledge and skill for practical application to reap the benefit of improved functional outcomes and this is true across the age span. Learn about their new global feeding tool, designed to bring thought to both feeding and swallowing in one checklist. Learn more about the new feeding codes and how this impacts evaluation and developing a treatment plan. Collaboration is key if you are in private practice, you can have a better understanding of what to ask for when requesting swallow studies from hospital-based clinicians which can improve outcomes. Use the feeding tool to guide treatment choices to include sensory based, oral motor based, swallowing and behavioral feeding concerns that may be present in the patients and clients we serve.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Define a feeding disorder, pediatric feeding disorder and swallowing disorder.
  • Interpret feeding from a global perspective understanding the impact of functional eating problems and health considerations.
  • Identify the importance of a swallowing evaluation. When is it necessary? What to ask for?
