According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), children with
developmental disabilities are 38% more likely to be obese than their typical developing counterparts. Yet, many times, this subset of the population is left out of the obesity discussion. TalkTools Instructor, Rehab Zaytoun, will be presenting information on the causes and effects of this issue and will provide a set of tools and resources to empower therapists and families – and children – to move forward on a healthier path.
Learning Outcomes1. Assess possible relationships between a child’s diagnosis, lifestyle and obesity
2. Establish a Healthy Lifestyle Plan for clients and their families
3. Recommend 2-3 tools/resources to assist with Healthy Future Plan
