Course Description

TalkTools Instructor and dysphagia expert, Colette Ellis, will be discussing syndromes related to dysphagia, as well as atypical swallowing sequences that can occur as a result. Instruction will include impacts on swallowing due to airway obstruction, focusing on pediatric craniofacial disorders. Colette will also outline how to implement a standardized dysphagia assessment and treatment plan.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the differences between syndromes, sequences, and/or associations presenting with feeding and swallowing difficulties. 
  2. Identify by characteristics, at least 5 or more syndromes, sequences, or associations.
  3. Explain how standardized clinical pathways may improve quality of care and optimize patient outcomes.
  4. Describe how airway patency may be impacted in children with craniofacial disorders.
