Kimberly K. Benkert RDH, BSDH, MPH, COM®, FAADH®️

Kimberly Benkert is a graduate of Loyola University, College of Dentistry with a BS degree in Dental Hygiene, a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Administration and Dental Public Health from the University of Illinois-School of Public Health, Certified in Orofacial Myology (COM®), and earned Fellowship status in both Orofacial Myology and Temporomandibular Muscular Dysfunction with the American Academy of Dental Hygiene. She has extensive didactic and hands-on training in myofascial release techniques and cranial-sacral therapies through coursework with Janet G. Travell, MD, John F. Barnes, PT, Dr. John E. Upledger – Upledger Institute, and Mariano Rocabado., PT, DPT, ccTT, and has taken Buyteko courses. Kimberly has practiced as a COM® for 40+ years. She was a faculty member at the University of Illinois-College of Dentistry and the Kennedy King Dental Hygiene Program. She is a visiting lecturer at dental/dental hygiene and speech pathology colleges and universities in the US and around the globe. Kimberly served on the IAOM Board of Directors in several capacities and was an Examiner for the Certification examination from 1985-2010. She is a founding member of the AAPMD, a past President of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the Illinois Dental Hygienists’ Association. She is a recipient of many awards including the ADHA/J&J Award for Excellence in the Profession, the ADHA/Discus Dental Distinguished Service Award, the IAOM Connie Painter Award for Outstanding Achievement in Orofacial Myology, and the IDHA Award of Merit. She has been teaching training courses and lecturing on orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD), oro-motor imbalances, TOTs and frenum assessment, examination and therapeutics for infants to adults, dysphagia – oral to pharyngeal phases, digit sucking extinction and elimination of parafunctional habits such as bruxism, muscle bracing and clenching, neuromuscular TMD assessment and treatment, and ergonomics for the dental/medical professionals since 1982 on a national and international basis. Her work and advocacy in OMT and TOTs facilitated changes in medical insurance coding and nomenclature. She is passionate about delivering quality therapeutics to individuals across the lifespan from newborns to end of life-care with adults. Her therapy offices are located in the Chicago metro-suburban area.
