Pediatric OMDs: Why Teamwork is the Only Option

Course Description

Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders are complex and involve many body systems. How therapists identify, prioritize and coordinate treatment while staying within their scope of practice is integral to creating the best outcomes. The myofunctional therapist often serves as a client’s case manager across disciplines and therefore must not only understand the roles of different providers, but also how to educate the caregivers on how to advocate for appropriate care. In this beginner level course, Ana will discuss some reasons an OMD may exist, explore the need for referrals and encourage collaboration with various professionals. Participants will learn why it takes a team to address the causes and secondary symptoms that often arise.
