WEBINAR | Safety, Sanitization and Personal Protection in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy [July 31, 2020] [2PM-4PM EASTERN]90420
Date: July 31, 2020
Location: Webinar (02:00PM-04:00PM EST)
Presenter: Robyn Merkel-Walsh MA, CCC-SLP , COM® and Patricia Pine, RDH, COM®
The COVID-19 pandemic has left therapists feeling unsure about re-opening their doors and maintaining proper infection control in their practices. This is especially true for those therapists who specifically work in the specialty areas of feeding, oral motor and orofacial myofunctional therapies. While hospitals and schools often have OSHA infection control policies, private practices may not have the necessary guidance on what an infection control policy should include and/or how to implement it. Robyn and Pat have over 50 plus years combined experience in working in the mouths of patients, and Pat has been teaching infection control and OSHA standards in dentistry for 25 years. Together, they have joined forces to educate fellow clinicians on the importance of: 1) knowing the CDC and OSHA standards; 2) obtaining and using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment); 3) disinfection procedures for surfaces with EPA
approved solutions; 4) the differences between sterilization and disinfection and 5) implementing an infection control policy / training staff.
- Participants will be able to define a competent based infection control program in their facility.
- Participants will be able to list 3 CDC guidelines for PPE.
- Participants will be able to define the differences between sterilization and disinfection.
