Course Description

Self-sufficiency is a broad but essential topic. This topic ranges from the core essentials that can lead to a more independent life, such as communicating your needs and wants and managing your own toileting needs, to being able to self-manage emotions and behaviors. This webinar will discuss the range of skills needed for self-sufficiency, ideas on sequences for teaching these skills, and methods to work in collaboration with children and young people with ASD to build these skill repertoires.

Learning Outcomes

The participant will be able to:

  • Identify communication gaps in their client
  • Apply 3 strategies to facilitate communication
  • Provide a client goal checklist to assist clients with daily communications to build independence

Content Disclosure: This presentation will focus on treatment methods related to the use of TalkTools® OPT resources. Other similar treatment approaches will receive limited or no coverage during this lecture.
