TalkTools® Horn #2
Horn #2 is the second level in the TalkTools Horn Hierarchy, a research-based Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) program that uses graduated resistance to develop controlled oral airflow. As clients advance through the hierarchy, each horn requires progressively greater respiratory and oral motor control, building the oral motor skills foundational to clear speech and functional feeding.
Therapy Goals
- Develop graded oral airflow control through progressive horn resistance
- Increase abdominal support and respiratory grading for speech and feeding tasks
- Strengthen lip rounding and lip seal necessary for sound production
- Build velum (soft palate) mobility to support oral airflow direction
- Progress the client systematically from easier to more challenging horn levels
- Part of the clinically developed TalkTools Horn Hierarchy, allowing measurable, step-by-step progression
- Increases in difficulty from Horn #1 (easiest) through Horn #12 (most difficult)
- Provides consistent resistance to build oral motor strength and airflow control
- Designed for clinical use under therapist guidance as part of a structured OPT program
- Durable, easy-to-clean construction suitable for repeated therapy use
- Clients with dysarthria, apraxia of speech, or other motor speech disorders
