TalkTools® Sensory Bean Bag Kit

The TalkTools Sensory Bean Bag Kit provides a playful, non-threatening way to deliver facial massage and expose clients to a variety of tactile textures. Designed for use in pre-feeding programs, these bean bags support clients with hyposensitivity or hypersensitivity to touch and texture on the face, and are effective with clients who present with tactile-defensive behaviors, facial asymmetry, or limited midline orientation.

Therapy Goals

  • Provide facial massage and tactile desensitization in a playful, non-threatening manner
  • Expose clients to graduated textures to reduce hyper- or hyposensitivity to facial touch
  • Support tactile normalization as a component of pre-feeding therapy
  • Improve facial symmetry awareness and midline orientation through structured tactile input
  • Prepare clients for oral motor activities by reducing tactile-defensive responses
  • Four texture pairs (silky, bumpy, furry, scratchy) allow graded exposure to a range of tactile inputs
  • Fun, engaging design reduces client resistance and supports a positive therapeutic experience
  • Appropriate for both hyposensitive (under-responsive) and hypersensitive (over-responsive) clients
  • Safe for use on the face, including with clients who have tactile-defensive behaviors

  • Replace any bean bag that shows signs of wear, leakage, or damage
  • Incorporate the Sensory Bean Bag Kit into a structured pre-feeding program. Refer to the TalkTools course "Feeding Therapy: A Sensory-Motor Approach" for clinical protocols and implementation guidance.
Warning: Use with adult supervision at all times. Inspect each bean bag before every use. Dispose of any bag showing damage or deterioration to prevent ingestion hazard.
