Anatole Karpovs, MD, FAAP, CCMS, is a pediatrician in a private practice in Lake Charles, Louisiana with 20 years experience. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University and received his medical training at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Dr. Karpovs completed his residency in Richmond, VA at the Medical College of Virginia, where he also served as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics. He is a past-president of the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society and currently serves as a delegate to the Louisiana State Medical Society.
He is married to a speech-language pathologist, with whom he has two children. Dr. Karpovs is a 2-time cancer survivor and is passionate about helping patients from a more holistic approach to wellness. His personal and professional experiences with health and disease influenced him to return to school. He earned designation as a Certified Culinary Medical Specialist from Tulane University to help patients and families use food as medicine. He enjoys teaching medical students and LSU Family Medicine residents about the power of a plant-based diet and promotes prevention versus disease remedy.
Dr. Karpovs completed TOTS: Tethered Oral Tissues Specialty training with Autumn Henning and continuing education with Dr. Bobby Ghaheri to learn more about the impact of tethered oral tissues on breastfeeding dyads. He has spoken at the International Association of Orofacial Myology Conference and serves as a release provider for his clinic, working closely with lactation consultants and feeding specialists. He teaches prenatal classes about the importance of a healthy diet and advocates for breastfeeding, focused on wellness and optimal oral-motor development. This combination makes him uniquely qualified in the field of preventative healthcare as it relates to nutrition, oral-motor feeding disorders, airway disorders and speech with a team approach to care. In his spare time, Dr. Karpovs enjoys reading, kayaking, listening to podcasts and cooking vegetarian meals.
