Clinicians are often in the position of educating and advising caregivers and need the skills to do so. Parent involvement can increase the benefits of therapy and ensure that children are receiving the help that they need, both at home and at school.

In this series, we will learn the skills we need to foster parent engagement and increase the overall well-being of our client. In this episode, we’ll explore simple and effective strategies to aid parents in developing resilience in their children. This is particularly necessary for children who confront adversity in their lives. Children with developmental challenges and learning disabilities are most likely to benefit from resilience training.

  1. Analyze the concept of resilience and its benefits to children.
  2. Identify seven core competencies that have been identified as necessary in building resilience.
  3. Define the core competency of Self-Efficacy.
  4. Identify methods to help children develop the core competency of Self-Efficacy necessary for fostering a resilience mindset.
