Event Information
Course Description | A healthy airway is critical to health and well-being. Airway obstruction often starts with ear-nose-throat congestion and airway inflammation. A common yet overlooked reason for this congestion and inflammation is water-damaged indoor environments (“moldy homes”). This presentation will discuss how 1 in 3 indoor spaces are contaminated with not just mold, but a complex mix of fungal and bacterial toxins and particulates that are highly inflammatory and well known to trigger ENT congestion and airway inflammation. It will discuss how this exposure can lead to airway obstruction, limiting the potential of otherwise efficacious myofunctional and airway treatments. It will discuss how you can identify this exposure and utilize tools to assess the environment and the individual. This presentation also offers simple tools that can be used to help individuals recover from this exposure.
Learning Outcomes | Participants will be able to:
- Identify 3 indoor environments that contribute to congestion and airway issues
- Utilize techniques to assess the environment
- Apply tools to assess environmental impacts on clients
