This is a 90 min on demand webinar designed for OT, SLP and other feeding specialists in the space who are interested in expanding their knowledge on the connection between gross motor skills and feeding skills across early childhood populations. Specifically the pre-kindergartener to elementary aged children who are navigating utilizing all of their sensory information and coordination in new environments.
The course is intended to enhance students' awareness of core control during stable (chair) and unstable (seated on the floor or unstable surface) surface to increase their ability to tolerate and explore different textures etc. We also introduce a connection between mature chewing, not for oral motor skills only but for improvement in airway management like nasal breathing and is typically a good indicator of adjacent issues like behavior, fatigue etc.
In addition, this course is designed to be the last of a 3 part series therefore a healthy review of the connection between big motor skills and big feeding gains The course is intended to enhance their skills in screening and referral techniques while expanding their assessment within their scope of practice. There is not a pre-course but this is designed to build on the previous course/first portion of this series. It is intended to open the conversation between allied health professionals and decrease the amount of isolation in the feeding community. The on demand course will include understanding the potential for in-depth care and holistic care with this population and review of health domains/body systems review.
The course also highlights the progression and foundation of pelvic health as basics motor learning portions of toileting are learned at this crucial development expansion. While this course is about typical topics the integration and utilization of it's contents are highly nuanced and require a student who is curious and ready to expand their knowledge - not simply take another course for credits.

Learning Outcomes
Student will name at least 4 postural poses that support regulation required for table food exploration.
Student will create at least 1 exercise that overlaps with proper chewing function and airway health.
Student will identify at least 3 reasons to request a consult from a PT member or indications for referral out to PT
Student will summarize 1 clinical pearl from each of the previous portions of the series (if they haven't taken all 3 they will hypothesize 1 clinical pearl from the developmental age groups - baby, toddler and then this current course)
Student will explain the mechanics of a mature breathing pattern in an upright position in patient friendly language.
