Course Description

Sensory issues related to food are some of the most common in children -- many times it lingers into adulthood, limiting quality of life. And one can see why -- almost all of your senses are being utilized when eating and drinking: smell, visual, taste, auditory, tactile -- even those "hidden" senses are engaged (proprioception, vestibular and, especially, interoception). Think about when you first get going in the morning and sit down to eat breakfast -- there is a lot going on! If there are sensory processing issues, something as simple as touching an orange slice or hearing the crunch of toast or smelling bacon can be overwhelming. TalkTools Instructor, Monica Purdy, will discuss possible causes of sensory-related feeding issues and how to assess the level of sensory processing dysfunction. She will provide a set of practical strategies and solutions to get your client from sensory overload to sensory friendly!

  2. Identify where on the sensory processing spectrum the client falls\
