Parents of and infants with feeding difficulties, children self-conscious about speech issues, and adults with poor health outcomes can suffer from stress and issues related to ankyloglossia.

Trish Wierenga, FNP-BC, IBCLC, RLC, PMH-C will present case studies (including the case of her own son!) of ankyloglossia-related issues and improved outcomes after frenectomy.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to: 

  1. List two signs and symptoms of ankyloglossia presented in case studies of varying client ages.
  2. Define the relationship of care and management of ankyloglossia to the improved outcomes after frenectomy in various age groups.
  3. Describe the impact of feeding difficulties on the physical and mental well-being of the family.
