Building upon the foundation laid in MYOTools 101, this course takes a deeper dive into the form-function balance. Participants will learn how to transition from recognizing orofacial myofunctional disorders to incorporating active strategies into therapeutic practice.
Instructor Robyn Merkel Walsh utilizes her extensive background in feeding, oral placement, and orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) to present a unique approach to targeting the four essential MYODomains:
Attendees will learn practical techniques for immediate clinical use, including massage for nasal passageways, scent training for nasal breathing, the Sensi Tool for oral placement targets, mastication strategies, and bolus collection. Every technique presented is supported by a rigorous review of internal and external evidence.
- Describe 2 techniques for improving nasal breathing.
- Implement 2 tactile cues to stimulate improved tongue tip elevation for speech and swallowing.
