Course Description | Join world-renowned expert in neuroplasticity, motor learning and dual task, Dr. Mike Studer for a practical translation of evidence that will elevate your practical strategies and clinical practice in dual task! This course is specifically prepared for the SLP practitioner to use DT/Cognitive Motor Interference with persons recovering from stroke, those with PD, MS, and concussion. Dr. Studer will guide you through the theory and into the applications including modes of distraction, dual task cost, cognitive motor interference, alternating attention, multi-tasking, dosage, timing and intensity!
Learning Outcomes | The participant will be able to:
- Identify the 4 main modalities of distractions in clinical and real world DT applications.
- Identify the physiology of attention and DT in rehabilitation as related to conversation, IADL, swallowing and cognition.
- Create an individualized program for patients in accordance with your scope of practice.
