Course Description | For teens and adults, stuttering is something that has been defined from their communication experiences; it shapes identity, influences relationships, and can affect how someone navigates the world around them. This course draws on the latest research to help clinicians understand the full psychosocial impact of stuttering across these life stages. Participants will leave equipped with practical counseling-based approaches that go beyond focus on surface-level behaviors. These strategies address the thoughts, feelings, and lived experiences of our clients who stutter.
Learning Outcomes | Participants will be able to:
- Describe recent research on stuttering impact for teens and adults who stutter.
- Integrate counseling strategies with teens and adults who stutter.
- Develop treatment plans and activities that highlight cognitive and affective impact of stuttering for teens and adults.
