LEVEL 1
LEARNING OPT™

Start your Levels™ Training with our foundational courses, where you will learn about Oral Placement Therapy, techniques and approaches for assessing and treating clients through the OPT lens, plus strategies for building your OPT Program Plans

LEVEL 1 REQUIREMENTS

Start your Levels™ Training with our foundational courses, where you will learn about Oral Placement Therapy, techniques and approaches for assessing and treating clients through the OPT lens, plus strategies for building your OPT Program Plans

COMPLETION OF LEVEL 1 (5 steps)

    1. Levels Training application submission
    2. Completion of the following courses:
      1. 3-Part Treatment Plan for OPT™ -- our foundational OPT course self-study, virtual streaming or in-person workshop
      2. OPT: Assessment and Program Plan Development -- apply what you've learned to build your own OPT Program™ self-study, virtual streaming or in-person workshop
    3. 3 months applied OPT techniques in your practice

Completing Level 1 DOES NOT qualify you to advertise or practice as a recognized, qualified OPT™ trained therapist. YOU MUST COMPLETE AT LEAST LEVEL 3.

LEVEL 2
IMPLEMENTING OPT™

Continue your Levels™ Training journey with expanded OPT™ coursework in feeding therapy, speech therapy and sensory processing, regulation and integration. Level 2 requirements also include completion of at least one of the focus area electives listed below.

LEVEL 2 REQUIREMENTS

COMPLETION OF LEVEL 2 (6 steps)

    1. Levels Training application submission
    2. Completion of Level 1 coursework
      1. Feeding Therapy: A Sensory Motor Approach™ self-study, virtual streaming or in-person workshop
      2. Superpowers of the Sensory System™  only virtual streaming or in-person currently available; self-study will be available soon
      3. Is it CAS (Childhood Apraxia of Speech)? Differential Diagnosis and Treatment™ (virtual streaming or in-person or self-study version Sensory Motor Approach to Apraxia of Speech™

++PLUS++

at least one of the following focus area elective courses (all courses are 1.2 CEUs

 

      1. MYOTools 101™ and MYOTools 102™ only live virtual streaming or in-person format currently available
      2. Functional Assessment and Remediation of TOTs™ only live virtual streaming or in-person format currently available
      3. Feeding Foundations™ only live virtual streaming or in-person format currently available
      4. Taking Your Client with Autism from Non-Verbal to Verbal™ live virtual streaming, in-person or self-study format

    3. 6 months TOTAL applied OPT techniques in your practice (3 months for Level 1 + 3 months for Level 2)

Levels Learners start their OPT training journey with our foundational course -- 3-Part Treatment Plan for OPT (Oral Placement Therapy), followed by OPT: Assessment & Program Plan Development. After you complete Level 1, you are prepared to take a deeper dive with our expanded courses on the 3 Parts of the "3 Part Treatment Plan for OPT:

  1. speech (Is It CAS? Differential Diagnosis and Treatment)
  2. feeding (Feeding Therapy: A Sensory Motor Approach)
  3. sensory (Superpowers of the Sensory System)

What are the 3 Parts of OPT (Oral Placement Therapy)

OPT expands traditional speech therapy (do what I do, say what I say) to include the tactile-proprioceptive sensory systems. Clients with motor and/or sensory impairments benefit from tactile and proprioceptive components because speech is a tactile-proprioceptive act.

SIGN UP FOR LEVEL 1 AND 2 COURSES AND ELECTIVES

LEVEL 3
PRACTICING OPT™

Once you've completed your Level 1 and Level 2 coursework and have applied OPT™ techniques for at least 6 months, you qualify to APPLY for Level 3 Training.

The Level 3™ Training Program is a multi-day workshop, limited to a small cohort of Level 2 OPT™ Therapists. The cohort will work closely with the Instructor, who provides case studies and leads the discussion on evaluation strategies and OPT™ treatment plans.

LEVEL 3 REQUIREMENTS

 

ACCEPTANCE TO LEVEL 3 TRAINING

    1. Levels Training application submission
    2. Completion of Level 1 and Level 2 coursework
    3. 1 year TOTAL of applied techniques in your practice (this includes 3 months applied techniques in Level 1 + 3 months applied techniques in Level 2 PLUS an additional 6 months of applied techniques)
    4. Pre-acceptance Q&A session with Levels™ Instructor

Upon completion of this Level, you are a recognized and qualified TalkTools® OPT™ Level 3 Therapist and are:

    • a member of the TalkTools® Levels™ OPT™ Therapist Global Network
    • permitted to designate your OPT™ Level 3 status in communications, marketing and client outreach

    • entitled to receive special discounts on TalkTools® products and services

    • qualified to receive 1-on-1 mentoring from the TalkTools® Teaching Team

    • eligible to apply to the TalkTools® Instructor Apprentice Program

    • primary contributor to the TalkTools® community for feedback on new products and courses and other beneficial topics

LEVEL 4
MASTERING OPT™

Once you've completed Level 3 Training and have applied OPT techniques for 1 year, you qualify to APPLY for Level 4 Training

The Level 4 Training Program is a multi-day workshop, limited to a small cohort of Level 3 OPTTherapists. The cohort will provide their own OPT case studies and, together with the Instructor, will lead interactive, collaborative discussions on how build comprehensive assessment and treatment plans. The cohort will learn from each other, as well as the Instructor. Additional coursework prior to the workshop is also required.

LEVEL 4 REQUIREMENTS

 

ACCEPTANCE TO LEVEL 4 TRAINING

    1. Levels Training application submission
    2. Completion of Level 1 and Level 2 coursework
    3. Recognition as a Level 3 OPT™ Therapist
    4. 2 years+ of applied techniques in your practice
    5. Pre-acceptance Q&A session with Levels Instructor

Upon completion of this Level, you are a recognized and qualified TalkTools® OPT™ Level 4 Therapist and are:

an advanced member of the TalkTools® Levels™ OPT™ Therapist Global Network

permitted to designate your OPT™ Level 4 status in communications, marketing and client outreach

entitled to receive additional discounts on TalkTools® products and services

qualified to receive 1-on-1 mentoring from the TalkTools® Teaching Team

eligible to provide guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 therapists

eligible to apply to the TalkTools® Instructor Apprentice Program
