Event Information

Course Description

TalkTools® virtual streaming workshops and webinars are recorded. Recorded presentations are available for 2 days after the dates posted and accessible only to learners who purchased a seat for this course.

This course is designed as an interactive case lab. Participants are required to submit a case study including photos, videos, an initial or most recent evaluation, and a detailed case history no later than April 11, 2026. After purchasing the course, you will receive an email with detailed instructions on how to upload and submit your case study. The email will also include evaluation forms and privacy forms that will need to be completed before submitting your case study.

You’ve completed continuing education courses and are actively working with clients, yet sometimes you may still encounter a gap between coursework and the realities of managing complex orofacial myofunctional disorder cases. This is where expert collaboration becomes essential.
This advanced, case-based course brings together two master clinicians with more than 70 years of combined experience in the diagnosis and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders across the lifespan. Instruction is grounded in a comprehensive clinical framework addressing the 4 MYODomains™ of airway, feeding and swallowing, structure, and speech. From breastfeeding to dysphagia, late talking to motor speech disorders, OMDs can impact many different areas of function at any age.
Participants will have the opportunity to submit a de-identified case study prior to the course, with appropriate consent and full HIPAA compliance. Cases may include any issues found within the 4 MYODomains™ such as ankyloglossia, lisp, infant feeding challenges, self-limited diet, tongue thrust etc.  In preparation for the course, Lori and Robyn will independently analyze submitted cases using their distinct certifications, training backgrounds, and clinical perspectives.. A select number of cases will be chosen for in-depth review during the live course.
Day one focuses on diagnostic reasoning and assessment. Instructors will guide participants through a detailed task analysis of evaluation procedures, highlighting overlooked variables, gaps in assessment, and barriers that may limit treatment success. Facilitated group discussion will encourage critical thinking and interdisciplinary dialogue.
Day two shifts to clinical problem-solving and treatment planning. Participants will collaboratively develop therapeutic program plans based on the reviewed cases, integrating diagnostic findings with evidence-based intervention strategies. This process allows clinicians to bridge the gap between knowledge and application, strengthening clinical reasoning and improving treatment outcomes regardless of prior training level.
This course is designed for clinicians seeking deeper insight, advanced reasoning skills, and practical strategies for managing complex orofacial myofunctional disorder cases with clarity and confidence. Pre-requisite coursework is mandatory (feeding, OMDs, OPT etc.) and space is limited.

NOTE: It is recommended that licensed professionals taking this course have completed MYOTools®  103-104, or another equivalent course specific to OMD assessment and treatment due to the advanced nature of this course.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify two problematic factors that stalls evaluation procedures.
  2. List the 4 components of an OMD assessment.
  3. Formulate 3 key points in treatment plans for complex orofacial myofunctional disorder cases, based on case analysis and course instruction.
